Ladies & Gentleman it’s nearly that time of year again when the world turns green to celebrate ‘Paddy’s Day’. If anyone knows how to party it’s the Irish – this is one day of the year not to miss going to ‘Church’.
BUT… did you know that this special holiday, which is now so heavily associated with drinking, parties, parades, pubs & other shenanigans, was once a DRY holiday? Unbelievable right? Well from 1903-1970 Saint Patrick’s day was declared a religious observance holiday & all pubs across the country were closed for business; meaning NO BEER, NO WINE , NO SPIRITS, for the public Nooooooooo!!!
Thankfully that law was overturned in 1970. The taps & bottles have been free flowing on St. Paddy’s day ever since & this year that will be happening nowhere more so than in our Church.
This Paddy’s day at The Church Irish Bar Albir we will be Irish dancing like nobodies watching, singing like we are on the main stage at Glastonbury accompanied by the usual suspects of live sports, amazing traditional Irish grub &….. Pints & pints & pints of the ‘Black Stuff’.
Our party will not have a start or finish time, why??? Because we are celebrating ALLLLL DAY!!
We have an amazing live music line up planned, Adam N Eve will be doing their thing in a way only they can – We have the very best U2 Tribute Band on the Costa Blanca – ‘The Fly’, these guys need to be seen to be believed & if you are watching from too far away you could be forgiven for thinking Bono himself is in the house. To top it off we have managed to secure one of Irelands most exciting up and coming bands ‘The City’ – These guys are flying in all the way from Belfast especially for us.
Paddy’s Day in a genuinely Irish owned bar, scoffing the best pub grub in town freshly shipped in from across the sea, guzzling bucket loads of Guinness, listening to a top band fresh off the boat from Belfast – It doesn’t get any more Irish than that does it????
Come on and channel your inner leprechaun and party the day away with us!!!
